Honor Jane Delgado with 2003
Florence
Kelley Consumer Leadership Award
What:
The Florence Kelley Consumer Leadership Award, named after the
League’s founder, is given to an individual who exemplifies a
commitment to social justice for consumers and workers and has a
willingness to give time, energy, and leadership to important causes
that may not be popular.
Who:
Jane Delgado, 2002 recipient of the Florence Kelley Consumer Leadership
Award, is President and CEO of the National Alliance for Hispanic
Health, an alliance that serves as a
clearinghouse for community-based clinics and health service providers
that target Hispanics. She has dedicated her life to promoting
quality educational health outreach to underserved communities. Dr.
Delgado is a practicing clinical psychologist and the author of ¡SALUD! A Latina’s Guide to Total Health – Revised Edition 2002,
the first health book written by and for Latinas.
Additionally,
Dr. Delgado:

Served in the Immediate
Office of the Secretary of the US Department of Health and Human
Services (DHHS) under then-DHHS Secretary Margaret Heckler, where she
was a key force in the development of the landmark “Report of the
Secretary’s Task Force on Black and Minority Health.”

Currently serves as a
trustee of the Kresge Foundation and the Ocean Awareness Project, serves
on the board of the Patient Safety Institute (PSI), and is a member of
the Advisory Panel on Medicare Education and the National Advisory
Council for Mrs. Rosalyn Carter's Task Force on Mental Health.

Was named one of “100
Most Influential Hispanics in the
US
” by Hispanic
Business Magazine.
