FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Washington, D.C...Did holiday stresses
give you a headache? You are not alone. Some 45 million Americans
suffer from chronic, recurring headaches. Most people treat headaches
with nonprescription pain relievers, spending more than $4 billion
annually. But with so many choices on drug store shelves, how
do you know what kind of headache you are suffering from, and
what medicine to take? A new brochure from the National Consumers
League offers welcome relief, with easy-to-read tips on how to
treat a headache, headache types, and information on when to see
your doctor.
"Our Take Care of Headache Pain brochure is a great resource
for all headache sufferers," said NCL President Linda F.
Golodner. "It's a refresher course on how to take medicine
safely. Everyone needs a reminder now and then."
The brochure explains the most frequent types of headaches: tension,
migraine and cluster. It also includes helpful "Always Remember"
tips for treating headaches. NCL focus-group tested the brochure
with a range of audiences at different reading levels to make
sure the brochure presents health information in an easy-to read,
straightforward style.
